Damiano Michieletto’s ninth production at La Fenice in Venice is Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, opening the 2018/2019 season. The show comes after the successful productions of Roméo et Juliette, of the Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy, of Rake’s Progress, Magic Flute, Aquagranda, and The Merry Widow, and will be running from Friday 23 November. On stage are Myung-Whun Chung conducting the Chorus and Orchestra of the Venetian Theater, baritone Luca Salsi in the title role, soprano Tatiana Serjan in that of Lady Macbeth, bass Simon Lim as Banco, and tenor Stefano Secco as Macduff. Elisabetta Martorana (Lady-in-waiting), Marcello Nardis (Malcom), and Armando Gabba (doctor) complete the cast.
The sets are designed by Paolo Fantin, the costumes are by Carla Teti, and the lighting design is by Fabio Barettin.
