Michele Mariotti leads the Orchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino on Friday 13th November at 8 PM, in a concert dedicated to Schubert’s and Fauré’s music.

«I’m coming back to Florence after five years – says Michele Mariotti – with a composer such as Franz Schubert, who has always held a fundamental role in my career. I’m conducting ‘The Great’, a symphony where I can already find anticipations to those poignant, deep and bittersweet Mahlerian atmospheres that will burst out at the end of the nineteenth Century. I find the combination with Fauré’s Requiem quite amusing, with those delicate tones, present throughout the entire score, where death besides being an inseparable element of life, takes on an almost liberating and serene meaning».
